Abstract

|
Objectives : In this study, we investigate the effect of elderly occupational participation on quality of life and self-esteem according to occupational participation when compared with participation of
adult occupation.
Methods : 50 adult and 50 elderly groups were asked to distribute a questionnaire to assess their quality of life, their self-esteem, and their participation in the occupationa. The results of the evaluation were analyzed statistically.
Results : There was no statistically significant difference in the quality of life and self-esteem among adult and elderly groups. However, there was a significant difference between the elderly and adult in play, leisure, education, and social participation. Play, leisure, and education were significantly correlated with the quality of life of the elderly, and play and social participation were correlated with self-esteem.
Conclusion : Participation in the occupation of elderly people has a major impact on quality of life and self-esteem, and play, leisure, and social participation can be important factors.
